Our 60-Minute Response Guarantee
When the power goes out — or worse, when a switchboard is sparking or a service line has come down — every minute counts. That is why our genuine commitment is "On-site within 60 minutes" for emergency callouts across Greater Sydney. We run a real 24/7 roster, so when you call 0466 125 125 you reach a person, not a message bank, and we dispatch the nearest available Level 2 ASP straight away.
As a fully accredited Level 2 Accredited Service Provider, we can do far more than an ordinary electrician in an emergency — we are authorised to work on the network side of your connection to make fallen lines, damaged points of attachment, failed service fuses and network faults safe and restored. Sydney Power Group is Australian owned, holds ASP Authorisation No. 5334 and Contractor Licence 318221C, and carries $20 million public liability insurance and workers compensation cover.
What To Do First — Stay Safe
Before anyone attends, your safety comes first. In any electrical emergency:
- If there is fire, smoke or flames, call 000 immediately.
- If it is safe to do so, switch off the power at your main switch.
- Stay well clear of damaged equipment, switchboards and any water near electrical fittings.
- Never touch or go near a fallen power line — always assume it is live.
- Keep children and pets away from the affected area.
- Never attempt electrical repairs yourself — this is dangerous and illegal on the network side.
Once you are safe, call us on 0466 125 125 and we will talk you through the situation and get a Level 2 ASP to you.
Network Outage or Fault at Your Property?
Network Outage
If your whole street or suburb is dark, it is likely a distributor outage. Ausgrid, Endeavour Energy or Essential Energy will be working to restore supply, and you can check their online outage maps for estimated restoration times. This part of the network is the distributor's responsibility.
Fault at Your Property
If only your property has lost power while neighbours still have supply, the fault is on your side of the connection — a tripped main switch, a failed service fuse, damaged consumer mains, a switchboard fault or a fallen service line. This is exactly the network-side work a Level 2 ASP is authorised to repair.
Not sure which one it is? Call us on 0466 125 125 and we will help you diagnose it over the phone before we attend.

Emergency Electrician — Frequently Asked Questions
How fast can you get to me in an electrical emergency?
Our genuine commitment is "On-site within 60 minutes" for emergency callouts across Greater Sydney. We run a 24/7 team, so when you call 0466 125 125 we dispatch the nearest available Level 2 ASP straight away. Actual arrival depends on your location and traffic, but our target is to be on-site within 60 minutes.
What should I do first in an electrical emergency?
Safety first. If there is fire, smoke or flames, call 000 immediately. If it is safe to do so, switch off the power at your main switch and stay well clear of any damaged equipment, fallen wires or water near electrical fittings. Never touch a fallen power line and never attempt electrical repairs yourself. Once you are safe, call us and we will talk you through the situation and get a Level 2 ASP to you.
Do you provide 24/7 emergency electrical service?
Yes. Sydney Power Group operates a genuine 24 hours a day, 7 days a week emergency service across Sydney — including nights, weekends and public holidays. Whether it is 2pm or 2am, you reach a real person and we dispatch a Level 2 ASP. Call 0466 125 125 at any time.
How do I know if it's a network outage or a fault at my property?
If your whole street or neighbourhood is dark, it is likely a network outage on the distributor's side — Ausgrid, Endeavour Energy or Essential Energy will be restoring supply and you can check their outage map. If only your property has lost power while neighbours still have supply, the fault is almost certainly on your side of the connection — a tripped main switch, a failed service fuse, damaged consumer mains or a switchboard fault — which is exactly the work a Level 2 ASP handles. If you are unsure, call us and we will help you diagnose it.
My switchboard is sparking, buzzing or smells like burning — what do I do?
Treat this as urgent. A sparking, buzzing, hot or burning-smelling switchboard is a genuine fire and electrocution risk. If safe, switch off the main switch, keep everyone clear of the board, and call us immediately on 0466 125 125. Do not try to open or investigate the switchboard yourself. As a Level 2 ASP we can make the installation safe and repair or replace the switchboard.
Can you handle storm and flood-damaged electrical connections?
Yes. Storms and flooding frequently pull down overhead service lines, damage points of attachment, break private power poles and flood switchboards and meter boxes. This is network-side work that requires a Level 2 ASP to make safe, repair and reconnect. We work with your distributor to restore supply safely after storm and flood events across Sydney.
A tree or car brought down the power line to my house — who fixes it?
The service line running from the network to your property (and the point of attachment on your building) is Level 2 ASP work. If a fallen line is on your property, stay well clear — assume it is live — and call 000 if there is any immediate danger, then call us. We make the connection safe, repair the point of attachment or private pole and coordinate reconnection with the network. Call 0466 125 125.
Do you charge more for after-hours emergency callouts?
Emergency and after-hours work is priced differently to standard-hours work, which is normal across the trade. We are upfront about this before we attend, and once we assess the situation you get a clear price — no surprises. In a genuine emergency the priority is always to make your property safe first.
I've received a defect notice with an urgent disconnection — can you help?
Yes. Distributors classify defect notices by severity, and the most serious class can lead to immediate or near-immediate disconnection because of a genuine safety risk. As a Level 2 ASP we can respond urgently, rectify the defect to the NSW Service and Installation Rules and arrange re-inspection or reconnection with the network so your power is restored.
What areas do you cover for emergency electrical work?
We provide 24/7 emergency response across all of Greater Sydney — the eastern suburbs, inner west, north shore, northern beaches, Sydney CBD, greater western Sydney, the Hills District, south-western Sydney, the Sutherland Shire and surrounding areas, spanning the Ausgrid, Endeavour Energy and Essential Energy networks.
Is it safe to keep using power if only some things aren't working?
Not necessarily. Partial power loss, flickering lights, warm outlets, a tripping safety switch that won't reset, or a burning smell can all signal a serious fault. If you notice any of these, switch off the affected circuit or the main switch and call us. Continuing to use a faulty installation risks fire or electrocution.
Are you licensed and insured for emergency work?
Yes. Sydney Power Group holds ASP Authorisation No. 5334 and Contractor Licence 318221C, and we carry $20 million public liability insurance and workers compensation cover. We are Australian owned and have been serving Sydney for 15 years.
