A Damaged Meter Panel Is Live Risk

The meter box houses the metering, the service connection and often the consumer mains termination. When storm damage cracks the enclosure or pulls it loose, those live parts can become exposed to weather and people. Do not attempt to push it back, cover it, or open it.

Water pooling inside a meter box can also cause the overheating that leads to a burnt meter box, so prompt make-safe matters.

Reinstating the Metering Position

As a Level 2 ASP, SPG is authorised to work on the meter position and metering panel. We secure and make safe the damaged box, then repair or replace the enclosure, remount the metering, and re-terminate the supply.

Where the network's service line or the meter itself is involved, we coordinate directly with Ausgrid, Endeavour Energy or Essential Energy, and can arrange a meter relocation if the original position is no longer suitable.
