Fallen Power Pole

A fallen power pole is a severe hazard — the pole may still carry live conductors, and the ground around it can be energised. If a private pole on your property has come down, Sydney Power Group (SPG) is a Level 2 ASP responding 24/7 across Greater Sydney to make it safe.

Stay well clear — assume every wire and the pole itself is live. If anyone is in contact with wires, or there's fire or immediate danger to life, call 000 first. Then call SPG on 0466 125 125 and keep others away until we arrive.

Treat a Downed Pole as Live

When a pole falls it can bring service lines with it, and both the conductors and surrounding ground may be energised. Do not approach, do not attempt to move it, and keep vehicles, people and animals at least well back. Step voltage in the ground nearby can be lethal.

If the fall is life-threatening — someone in contact, a fire, or a line across a road — call 000 before anything else. Once the immediate danger is managed, call us to handle the electrical make-safe.

Make-Safe and Network Coordination

A private power pole is the property owner's responsibility, and as a Level 2 ASP we're authorised to work on it and the service fuse it carries. We make the site safe, then plan the repair or replacement.

Because a fallen pole usually affects the network connection, we coordinate directly with Ausgrid, Endeavour Energy or Essential Energy to isolate supply and reconnect once the new pole is in place.

Replacing the Pole

We install a compliant replacement power pole, re-run the service line and point of attachment, and restore your supply safely. This work is quoted once we assess the site.
