Circuit Breaker Keeps Tripping

The cause might be too many appliances on one circuit, a faulty appliance, a damaged cable, or the breaker itself wearing out. Our electricians diagnose it properly rather than guessing.

Overload or Fault?

An overload trip happens when a circuit is asked to carry more current than it's rated for — often too many high-draw appliances on the same circuit. A short circuit or earth fault trip is more serious and points to damaged wiring, a faulty appliance, or water ingress.

If a breaker trips instantly the moment you reset it, there's a genuine fault on that circuit; leave it off and call us. If it trips only under heavy load, it may be an overload that needs load re-balancing or an extra circuit.

Pinpointing the Cause

We isolate the affected circuit and carry out electrical fault finding — unplugging appliances, testing the cable run, and inspecting connections — to separate an appliance fault from a wiring fault. We also check the breaker itself, as older breakers can weaken and nuisance-trip.

If the main switch is also affected, see main switch won't reset. As a Level 2 ASP we can extend the diagnosis to the mains where needed.
