Metering alterations are core Level 2 ASP works that legally require an Accredited Service Provider. Sydney Power Group (SPG) reconfigures, relocates and adds meters, and coordinates tariff and metering changes with Ausgrid, Endeavour Energy and Essential Energy so your supply stays compliant and correctly billed.

Whether you are moving a meter into a compliant enclosure, adding a controlled-load (off-peak) circuit, converting to a smart meter, or restructuring metering for a new tenancy, we manage the disconnection, works and reconnection end to end. All installations meet AS/NZS 3000 and the Service & Installation Rules of NSW.

What Metering Alterations Cover

Metering alterations include moving a meter to an accessible, compliant location, adding meters for new tenancies or granny flats, wiring controlled-load circuits for hot water, and swapping accumulation meters for interval or smart metering. Many of these tasks require the service to be de-energised at the point of supply, which only a Level 2 ASP can arrange.

We also correct metering faults flagged on a defect notice and ensure meter positioning, clearances and labelling satisfy the network's requirements before reconnection.

Coordinating With Your Retailer & Network

Tariff changes and smart meter installs often involve both your electricity retailer and the local network operator. SPG coordinates the network connection side while liaising with metering providers so the changeover is seamless and your supply is restored promptly.

For larger sites, metering alterations may lead into CT metering where current transformers are required for high loads.
