The service protection device (SPD), commonly known as the service fuse, protects the consumer mains between the network and your switchboard. Installing or replacing it is a Level 2 ASP task because it sits on the network side of the supply. Sydney Power Group (SPG) fits correctly rated service protection across Greater Sydney.
A failed, undersized or missing service fuse is a safety and compliance issue often flagged on a defect notice. All works meet AS/NZS 3000 and the Service & Installation Rules of NSW.
What The Service Fuse Does
The service protection device provides overcurrent protection for the consumer mains running from the point of supply to your main switch. It must be sized to the mains and the network's supply arrangement to protect the installation safely.
SPG assesses cable size and supply capacity to specify the correct service fuse rating.

Install, Replace, Upgrade
We install new service protection during supply upgrades, replace fuses that have blown or degraded, and correct undersized devices identified on a defect notice. SPD works commonly accompany a single phase upgrade or three phase upgrade.
Because access to the fuse involves the network supply, the changeover is managed with a coordinated disconnection and reconnection.

Safe, Compliant Protection
Correct service protection keeps your supply safe and your installation compliant, with certification issued on completion.
