Why Timber Poles Fail On Essential Country

Out on the Essential network, private poles cop relentless sun, UV, wind and — in many districts — bushfire heat, which ages timber far faster than a sheltered suburban pole. Rot at the base, splitting, lean and termite damage are the usual culprits behind failure. A leaning or rotten pole is a safety risk and a prime candidate for an Essential Energy defect notice. A proactive pole inspection catches deterioration early — while it is a planned job rather than an urgent one — which matters on the Essential network where a network re-inspection to a remote property can take a while to schedule. We inspect the pole, footing, attachment and span, and tell you plainly whether it needs repair, reinforcement or full replacement.
