How a Duplex Gets Two Supplies

Most duplexes take a single service from the street into a shared point of supply, then split into two separately metered consumer mains — one per dwelling, each with its own main switch and metering position. Whether the site suits overhead or underground supply, and whether the existing service has capacity for two homes, is exactly what we confirm at design stage so the build isn't held up later. Knock-Down Duplex Builds

Many Sydney duplexes replace a single older home. That sequence starts with a demolition power disconnection, runs through temporary builders power during construction, and finishes with two new connections and meters at completion. Subdivision, NMIs & Settlement

Each dwelling needs its own NMI (National Metering Identifier) and retailer account before occupants can be billed separately — and certifiers and conveyancers will look for it at settlement. We lodge the applications for the additional connection point, complete the Level 2 works, and coordinate the retailer's meter installations so both dwellings are energised and separately metered when you need them.
