When you install solar, your meter usually needs reconfiguring to measure both the power you import and the power you export. Sydney Power Group carries out this work as a Level 2 ASP authorised across Ausgrid, Endeavour Energy and Essential Energy.

Getting the meter right is what ensures your feed-in is actually credited — a step solar-only installers often have to hand off to someone else.

Why solar needs a meter change

Older meters may only measure consumption, or aren't configured to record export. To be paid a feed-in tariff, your meter must record energy flowing out to the grid as well as in. We reconfigure or replace the meter so both directions are measured correctly.

This is essential for any new solar installation or battery installation, and we time it so your system can start exporting without delay.

The Level 2 ASP advantage

Metering and network connection work is restricted to Accredited Service Providers. Because we hold Level 2 ASP authority ourselves, we handle the meter, service connection and any supply upgrade in-house — no waiting on a separate contractor and no finger-pointing between trades.
