Multi Split Installation

A multi split runs several indoor heads from one outdoor unit, which means a higher electrical load than a single split. Sydney Power Group installs the dedicated circuit and isolator, checks whether your switchboard and supply can cope, and makes the safe connection for your AC technician to commission the system.

Sizing for a bigger load

Because a multi split powers multiple indoor heads, its outdoor unit draws more current than a single split. We size the dedicated circuit, cable and breaker to the manufacturer's rated load and provide RCD protection. Larger multi splits may need a heavier single-phase run — or, for the biggest units, a move to three-phase power.

A weatherproof isolator is fitted at the condenser for safe disconnection during service.

When a switchboard upgrade is needed

Multi splits often tip an older switchboard past its comfortable limit. We check for spare ways, RCD coverage and overall demand, and recommend a switchboard upgrade if the board can't safely take the new circuit.

If the whole property's demand has grown, we can upgrade your consumer mains or arrange a supply upgrade. This network-side work requires a Level 2 ASP — SPG is accredited across Ausgrid, Endeavour Energy and Essential Energy.
